Carol Gray,
        I would look into the possibility with your physician that you have
narcolepsy (a recurrent uncontrollable desire for sleep).
        A former student of mine had this, and I don't know what medication
she was taking, but apparently it is controllable through medication.
        Whether or not you have narcolepsy, your sleep cycles are messed up;
that is why you sleep during the day but not at night. You can't control
this yourself--you have to be on medication (at least for awhile) to get
your body reaccustomed to sleeping when it's supposed to.
        If you DO look into the narcolepsy angle, will you please let us
know if that's the problem?
        Take care.
