Thanks CONSUMER HEALTH INFORMATICS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT The second national conference "Partnerships for Networked Health Information" will be held May 12-14, 1996, in Rancho Mirage, California. It will focus on health information that supports prevention, patient education, and the management of health and disease. Sessions will also explore the infrastructure needed to link homes, hospitals, clinics, schools, worksites, and community settings. It will include hands-on demonstrations by America Online, IBM, and Time-Warner. Partnerships '96 will be invaluable for representatives of managed care and other medical institutions and health companies who value informed patients; health professionals who seek more effective communication with their patients; public agencies that disseminate health information or deliver health services; nonprofit health and other community organizations that provide information and services in specific fields; employers, benefits managers, and insurers seeking to raise wellness and reduce inappropriate use of services; community organizations, including civic networks and libraries, that provide the public with direct access to information; foundations that support innovative health communication activities; and electronic publishers, interactive applications developers, telecommunications and computer companies that create or deliver vital health information directly to end users.
