Hiya... i've had PD for 20 years and had a monolateral (one side done)
pallidotomy performed by Dr. Robert Iacono of Loma Linda University Med Center
on Oct. 24, 1994. Quite simply, the surgery took 55 minutes and not only was
I back at work the very next day, but was returned to the human race and
INSTANTLY!!!!! I cannot say enough about the Loma Linda Movement Disorder
Team, Dr. Iacono, Tony Schoonenberg (my wonderful L.Linda liaison and since
then, my friend) and the surgery itself.

Best of luck, and should you want to discuss this, please feel free to email
me or voice talk...

Subject: PARKINSSN list

Briefly; I am a 48 yr old white male. I was first diagnosed in 1982 and
have been on medication for most of that time. (I self medicated with
alcohol for several years until I stopped drrinking in 1990.) I have been
retired and on 100% disability for 3 years.
I have read as much as I could find on alternative treatments and have
decided that the only way that offers any real hope of control or recovery
from the disease is the foetal tissue implant surgery.
My interest in the list is two-fold. First, I would like to hear from folks
who have had the surgery done and their comments on the results. Second, I
would like to be directed to hospitals and doctors who can and do perform
this surgery.
