The following information is being forwarded to the list serve for John Leonard. John won our local support groups Parkinsonian of the year award for his unbounded efforts to get Parkinsonians out on the golf course and enjoy something that many had given up because of the many changes occurring in there physical abilities. John has been successful in Houston getting local courses to set aside a morning for PDers and caregivers to play 9 holes in a safe and abbreviated course format. John has been able to get support for his efforts from drug companies and the USGA. I really admire him for what he is doing and hope other families afflicted with PD will benefit from what John is trying to do. His local group now has about 50 players total with less than that participating on a regular basis. the sponsorships have enabled John to get local golf pros to hold group lessons for those seeking help. The Houston Area Parkinson Society is proud to have John as a member and supports his efforts.
