I am resending this message because I am not sure if it was successfully
sent before.....

Hello. My name is Deanna Bartuccio. This is the first message (I hope you
receive it). My mother-in-law, Suriaya Lutchmedial is 50 yrs. old and was
diagnosed with PD 11 yrs ago. She does not have email so I am writing this
on her behalf. She is taking Permax and Sinemet (I am not sure of her
dosages, since she changes so often). She experiences foot cramps and
insomnia, and sometimes cannot get up from the seated position. She is very
depressed. From reading the listserv and from my own research, I understand
that these are common symptoms. I had read that Sinemet slow release at
bedtime sometimes helps insomnia. She tried it with success (went from 2 to
4 hrs/night).
The question I would like to ask is, What other symptoms do others
have taking Permax? lately she has been experiencing constipation, nausea
and severe muscle spasms (described as shooting pains which immobilize her,
similar to pinched nerves). Could this be her Permax or symptoms of PD? In
the Feb 15th digest, another inquired about Permax (there was no name), what
are your experiences.
Suriaya was recommended for surgery but she had turned it down.
Congratulations to Stan on his successful pallidotomy. Could others report
their experiences. I have searched for info but all I come up with is about
the procedure itself, nothing on pesonal experiences and long term effects.
My fiance is a resident and tries to find as much info as he cans, but I
fear, as with most people, his objectiveness becomes cloudy due to his
emotional attachment to his mother. I know with me, my parents seem invincible.
I have known Suriaya now for 3 years and I have grown to love her.
Thank you for listening and all the help so far just from reading the
listserv this past little while.
