I had a monolateral pallidotomy on Oct. 24, 1994,, at Loma Linda med Center.
I find it helped my cognative ability if anything. Tho.... uhhhhhh... it sure
didn't help my typing or spelling ability! Both were lousy before the surgery
and still are! <grin>

By the way... I consider Oct .24, 1994 to be my REAL birthday! Or perhaps
"REbirthday" might be the better term...

Hi everybody!

I would like to know if anybody have ever had a pallidotomy and if so, if
you noticed any change cognitively. I know that there is some motor
improvement but I'm also interested in the cognitive deficits of PD. Does
the attention, the memory, the visuospatial, the executive functions
(ability to shift set and concept formation) and the emotional and
behavioral functions change after a pallidotomy or if it remains the same?

Even people who didn't had a pallidotomy but knows about this, I will be
please to read you!

I like also to say that I really enjoy this group and that I learn a lot.
I study PD and find this group very helpful.
