FYI Everybody,

The APDA Young Parkinsons I & R Center has moved from California to Glenbrook
Hospital in Glenview, IL(a northwest suburb of Chicago). I am the new
coordinator taking over for Arlette Johnson who resigned several months ago
after many wonderful accomplishments, including the compilation and editing
of the new Young Parkinsons Handbook. This book is free to any young
Parkinsonian and can be ordered by writing or calling the center.

The Movement Disorders Program at Glenbrook Hospital has begun a pallidotomy
program which follows protocol similar to Emory University, including
mapping. 15 very successful pallidotomies have been done to date including
second pallidotomies on four patients. The coordinator of the program is
Sandy Vergenz, R.N., a very kind and knowlegeable nurse, who educates
patients and families about the procedure and stays with the patient through
the entire process in the operating room and recovery. The neurosurgeon is
Dr. Ted Eller and the neurologist is Dr. Michael Rezak who is also my medical
director. This is a team that is competent AND kind, a combination hard to
beat! For more information call Sandy at 847-657-1691 or FAX 847-657-5891.
