Header: *UA doctor develops game that diagnoses Parkinson's disease*
----------------------------------------------------------------------
TUCSON - It's so simple, it almost looks too good to be true.
A video game that measures wrist-movement reflex is one of three
easy tests Dr. Erwin Montgomery has devised to diagnose Parkinson's
disease objectively.
So far, his battery of tests has been more than 90 percent accurate
in pinpointing people with the debilitating brain-based disease,
sometimes before they're aware of any symptoms.
"As of right now, there is no other objective laboratory test for
Parkinson's disease," said Montgomery, a University of Arizona neurologist.
"You can't just do very, very badly on one test. ...You have to do badly
on at least two of them in order to be abnormal."
A second test, using scratch-and-sniff sample, measures ability to
smell. The third test is a questionnaire to evaluate depression.

Last year, Montgomery reported that he identified three early diagnostic
PD symptoms: (1) hand motion, (2) smell, and (3) depression.
Does anyone have more info on his research?
