In Reply to Aviva, Jim, Roger, Anthony (et al.?), These thoughts about "evaluation" (though we need a better word) and WAC, and studies/promotional venues for what we do (in Canada and dare I say "elsewhere") could nicely mix in a forum that reports on how our research has helped/hurt/sustained/changed writing in specific places (workplaces, disciplines, universities, etc). As such, the panel could discuss business/professional contexts, academic/disciplinary contexts, or projects within university administrations (perhaps even SSHRC itself! -- has anyone ever proposed to SSHRC to study SSHRC discourse?) In addition, we would have some nice empirical data for those people looking over Anthony's shoulder....
