LONDON (Apr 11, 1996 11:30 p.m. EDT) - Old dogs can learn new tricks,
at least when it comes to computers, and they do it better than their
younger counterparts, a British psychologist reported on Thursday.

Nicholas Bozionelos of Scotland's Strathclyde University found younger
people were more likely to have a fear of new computer technology than
older folks.

He compared a group of 18- to 23-year-olds with a group of 30- to
43-year-olds and found the older group, despite having less computer
experience, showed a lower level of anxiety about computer technology
in a written test.

"Contrary to what might be expected, computer anxiety and negative
attitudes towards computers are increasing in strength from the old
generation to the new, and may constitute an even more important issue
for the future," Bozionelos told a meeting of the British
Psychological Society.
