The alien hand sign is no joke, but it certainly is bizarre: "failure
to recognize ownership of one arm when visual cues are removed, a
feeling that one body part is foreign, personification of an arm,
and autonomous activity which the patient perceives as outside
voluntary control". (Doody R, Jankovic J; Neur 1991;41(suppl 1):122)

It is said to be pathognomonic for cortical-basal ganglia degeneration
(CBGD), a rare (<1%) relative of PD that is much more severe and has
no effective treatment.
