Hi:

I have a question about choline (part of food supplement lecithin). First,
some background.

According to my layman readings, choline is absorbed by the body and
eventually converted into acetylcholine. One source of early symptoms for
Parkinsons is the resulting imbalance between dopamine and acetylcholine due
to loss of dopmanine. In fact it is this very reaction which makes
anticholinergic drugs like Artane somewhat effective in the early treatment
of Parkinsons. There are many sources of choline in food including oatmeal,
soybeans, peanuts, eggs and milk.

Now my question: Should we parkinsonians expect to react negatively to the
ingestion of foods which contain choline? Should we restrict our intake of
these substances?
