Although I have been lurking for the past forty days, I have not committed the introductory letter that I have been meaning to write to a magnetic disk or electronic impulses. But several things that I have noted seem to bear a comment nonetheless. On 18 April, Michel Margosis ([log in to unmask]) wrote: "We called our esteemed Sen. Charles Robb who was the pivotal vote to confirm Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court, and who hasn't yet decided to support the Udall bill because his father was afflicted with it which would make it appear to make it self serving." I feel quite to the contrary. We need leaders in Congress, and his father's affliction gives him a natural opportunity to lead. On the basis of his type of argument, we would not fund research on cancer or heart disease because, I would surmise, more than half of our legislators have someone close in their family who either have these diseases or have died from them - or both. I am not certain as to the support of my legislators, and I tried to locate the Udall bill in <http://thomas.loc.gov>, because that should provide the text of the bill with all of its cosponsors listed. I could not find it. It would be useful to have its formal name and/or number. On 9 April, Rita Weeks ([log in to unmask]) wrote: "Nebraska Unicameral (we have only one house in our state legislature) tonight passed LB 496 to establish a registry for Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders in the state of Nebraska." Wonderful idea, and particularly wonderful that the Parkinson's community was able to make itself heard. As I was surfing the net, I came across the Mulligan Foundation. Their URL is <http://www.frostbyte.com/mulligan/parkinsons>. Among other things, they are trying to get a register of all people with Parkinsonism. I am curious about the foundation because in the past month plus, I have seen no reference to it in any of the messages to this list, and their site shows little sign of activity. Are they for real, and if so, is there possibly some synergy with the Nebraska registry and with this list as well? And if so, how might it best be exploited for the benefit of all of us?
