The recent correspondence & speculation on the causes of Parkinson's
made me think that my wife's beliefs may be relevant.

She is 80 years old, and was diagnosed as a Parkinson 5 years ago.
Her main symptoms are hand tremors which have got progressively
worse over the years. She associates the start of the disease with
the large doses of cod liver oil - 20 ml/day, which she had been
taking on the advice of a friend, who had found it helpful in
allieviating arthritis - actually she had misunderstood her friend's
advice, as the friend was only taking 10 ml/day (a desertspoon full,
compared with the tablespoon full which Helen use using)

After about three months of this, she was awakened on two mornings
with what seemed like explosions in her head, and the Parkinson tremor
started about a fortnight after this.

She has discussed the possibility of excess cod liver oil being a
cause with her doctor, and a neurologists, and they have discounted
the possibility of there being any connection, but cod liver oil
does contain a lot of Vitamin A and is high in protein, and it may
have been a factor.

Have other subscribers to the List any experience of taking large
doses of cod liver oil?.

As we live in the UK we cannot have any influence on the efforts to
get the Udall bill accepted, but if it is passed the results could
be very great for Parkinson sufferers throughout the world, and I
would like to say that we have been very interested in the reports on
this matter, how much we admire the work that is beeing done, and to
wish you all every success in the final outcome.

with best wishes from
