Thought I would jump in and add my experience. The neuro that started me on
Sinemet CR had me take 1 1/2 tabs in the morning. The theory being that the
extra 1/2 was needed to help me get started, and that, by breaking the tab in
half, it allowed the medication to be released quicker than if it was whole.

It has worked pretty well for me, but mornings are usually still the most
difficult time of the day.
