Good question from John Morey.Sinemet is obviously very effective at masking the symptoms but the side effects for a lot of people are eventually not too good. There has been a lot of discussion in this list on the merits of going all out for it or posponing its use, also the question of possible damage to dopamine producing neurones. It's all a bit inconclusive. Obviously one's own personal situation and position on the pd ladder has a bearing on choice. I am at a point where the initial effectiveness of sinemet is beginning to wear off, I have experienced by taking a sinemet holiday that it is in some ways addictive, and I just have a gut feeling that for myself I would rather be without.Could be wrong but hopefully the experiment won't have done any harm and at least sinemetless I've had the opportunity to look the pd devil in the eye; one can when sinemet is working well forget what he looks like!
