Hi folks:

I just pulled this excerot from an ariticle on medscape (www.medscape.com).
You learn something new everyday. I thought that hydrogen peroxide was just
something you keep in the medicine cabinet.

The new study also may shine light on why people who smoke are less likely
to develop Parkinson's disease. By keeping levels of MAO-B low, smoking also
reduces brain levels of hydrogen peroxide, an MAO-B by-product that can
damage brain cells, the researchers explained.

This damage could eventually lead to Parkinson's disease, they said.

Generally, smokers have about half the risk of Parkinson's disease as
non-smokers, according to the editorial, written by Alexander Glassman of
Columbia University in New York and George Koob of the Scripps Research
Institute in La Jolla, Calif.
