I thought the article about sleep sent over by MTuchman was terrific.  A
coouple of things I do that help:  1, recite poetry to yourself  2, do yoga
or tai chi in your head - I find that the effort of remembering what movement
comes next often puts me to sleep. 3, if all else fails, have a small
battery-operated radio on, under your pillow, low enough so it won't bother
your spouse; what they're tallking about on the air will distract you from
your mind chatter.
