Some of you may have already gotten this, but it's just a commentary on the status of things: ************* TOXIC STEW All over earth's surface In cities old and new Humanity awakens To find something quite askew Steel and glass now replace Once former skies of blue, Reflecting back images Of that which we once knew Industry's edifices Completely block the view By their physical size And the gasses that they spew Nature's clarity gone, All a smokey drab hue Obscuring the colors of A landscape in full bloom Chemicals freed to form A highly toxic brew Unknown synergisms Enhance this poison stew Diseases which had been Reserved for just a few Affect now young and old Both beast and human too Perhaps it's not too late To begin to undo The havoc we've created If not, then we're ALL screwed! And for those who would deny That any of this is true Why are "aging" diseases Striking those still in their youth? To cure these ills at the source Not just the symptoms showing through Requires serious commitment And more, a change in attitude. * Wendy Tebay
