Dear Patricia, I can really relate to your problems. I am about your age, will be 59 in September and was diagnosed approximately a year ago. My neurologist started me on Sinnemet 25/100 two or three months ago. He told me to take 1/2 pill three a day for 5-7 days and then increase it to 1 pill three times a day. The first week was fine, but once I increased it, I was constantly nauseaus and very lightheaded. Just about the time that I would start to feel half way decent it was time to take another pill. I dreaded taking the pill. I was scheduled for gall bladder surgery so I asked my neuro if I could at least go off the Sinnemet until after surgery, I hated the thought of going into surgery feeling sick. He gave me the Ok and gave me Sinnemet CR for after surgery. I got on this list and asked for help. I got a lot of good advice on this list, some of which I tried. For the first two weeks after surgery, I took the Sinnemet twice a day and then increased it to three times. One thing that I have learned from this list is that PD and the medicines affect everyone different. What is working for me is to drink 1/2 small bottler of Sunny-Delite with my pill and eat a cracker (I use nabs). I need to wait at leas 30 min before eating a meal or I will get sick. If I feel nauseous between times, I either eat another cracker or drink ginger-ale. I also found that if I ate a real big meal, then I would get sick. It's been four weeks since I went back on the Sinnemet and I feel the best that I have in a couple of years. I very rarely shake, am not as slow, my handwriting has improved and I can move a lot better. In other words, I actually feel normal. Everybody told me that my body would get used to the Sinnemet, in fact one person told me that I was increasing it too fast. I have also heard and read that you should not cut the pill in half. Maybe your neuro could give you 25/100 instead of the 50/200. Sorry to be so lengthy, I know I have rambled on. Hang in there. Dora [log in to unmask]
