Bruce, this is caused by a syndrome called "importedjunkinitis" a=20
condition caused by the purchase of items made in countries where pride=20
in workmanship has been replaced with unmitigated greed. I purchased a=20
repair kit for a toilet tank, just a couple of nuts and bolts, a metal=20
plate, and a rubber gasket. The purpose is to seal the tank to stop water=
=20
leakage. when I tightened the nuts, one just split in two, with hardly=20
any pressure applied. The original parts where 43 years old, and the=20
metal was still strong, only the rubber dried out. The kit was a cheaply=20
made import, relabled by a well know U.S.A. company. I am not saying=20
where the parts were made, as I know that country does make some fine=20
products..but this kit was not one of them. Imagine if that nut had been=20
used to hold an engine on an airplane? Next time try to find furniture=20
made by a company that is interested in making quality products, even if=20
it costs a few dollars more! If you read Consumer Reports, they=20
frequently report recalls of defective products, such as beds, that=20
injure, or kill people due to shoddy construction and/or design. I did=20
not mean to go on so long, but don't blame yourself for the defective chair=
!
