Evidently some queries about Eldepryl are from newcomers to the list. This drug has been debated among scientists for years, sometimes acrimoniously, and you can find highly respected advocates on either side. The British "death toll" study that set off the current scare has since been attacked as poorly conducted, and while the risk of shorter lifespan may be true, it is probably small (remember most PD patients are already in their 70s and 80s, and at risk from other factors) and certainly not acknowledged by all authorities.
