DEJA VU? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

When the listserv program changed, March 27th, the archives while still being
updated daily at the UTORONTO, became unsearchable due to lack of software. The
job language tools, and the gopher, went away like the hula hoop.

I found commercial software that I could run on my upgraded machine that
could have provided the list with the features, many of us missed in using the
'old' archives. The only drawback was cost. Clearances to request assistance in
sharing this cost through pledges, was not available.

Not being dismayed, Jim Laurent, an 'Honorary Parkinsonian' and myself wrote
a program
in a couple of weeks to duplicate most, if not all of the advanced features
of the listserv database program that would work with the logfiles created
by the L-Soft listserv program.

The parkinsn logfiles from our inception as well as those finished weekly at
Thursday, midnight, reside on my machine. This volunteer effort, along with
developing a new tool, makes it possible for the "Current Topics...."
message to 'rise from the ashes'.
