Mark Frost-- I heard the phrase *sundown syndrome* when visiting a friend in
a nursing home. Contrary to all expectations that she would thrive there,
she soon developed the nighttime disturbances: trouble sleeping, wandering,
being a little combative at times, and disoriented. The nurses said it often
happens with older folks who are in an unfamiliar place and become confused.
This may be what your father has, even if he is at home, if he is at times
disoriented. It is, apparently, fairly common.
