Hi,

I am looking for a sympathetic neurologist in Baltimore, Maryland. My
father is 84 years old and was diagnosed with PD in February. The
neurologist he went to prescribed Sinemet but, when he had an allergic
reaction (hives), told him to stop taking it and sent him back to his
internist. My father chose not to revisit the internist who had, of course,
sent him to the neurologist. I can't blame him, but I also see that the
disease is advancing rapidly and want to see if I can find a neurologist
with a humane manner of dealing with the elderly and one with a special
expertise in PD. The neurologist refused to talk with me over the phone,
even though my father was on the line with me and gave him permission to
speak with me privately or with us both on line. The doctor firmly said
"no," frustrating both me and my father.

Are there any Baltimore patients who can give me a recommendation? I will
be most grateful. It is so sad to watch this rapid deterioration, which
does appear to include some dimentia, making it difficult for my father and
I to talk about what to do next, if anything.

Peace,
Mary Tabor ([log in to unmask])
