Howdy, y'all. My name is Jim Kelley.

My Mom has had PD for about 3-4 years. I've already
mentioned something about our situation in a post that
I sent yesterday, asking for help regarding Mellaril and
hallucinations.

I'm 59 years old, live in Phx, AZ. My parents live in
Texas where my sister lives and helps to attend. She
lives about one hour from them and is constantly
trying to help carry the load.

My Dad, who is 82 years old (Mom is 80) takes care
of Mom in every possible way. All of the daily care does
not bother him, but her halucinations are beginning to
drive him crazy.

Yesterday, I decided to attack the problem by asking
for help on the Internet, and some of you have already
been very kind enough to offer advice. Initial reports
indicate a general negative feeling about Mellaril, which
comes as no surprise to us. After passing along your info
to my Dad, he said to offer his most sincere appreciation.

In addition, he is trying to find out the possibility of
replacing Mellaril with Risperdal. Please let me know
of any advice you might have on this and any other
drugs that might help the PD and stop the hallucinations.
Incidentally, another drug, Clozaril, has been mentioned,
but there appears to be numerous side-effects with this.

I hope all of you realize how much help this maillist is to
people like myself who are reaching out for advice.

If anyone on this list knows of a neurologist living in the
Mineral Wells/Weatherford/Fort Worth, Tx area, I would
appreciate being informed of such.

Thanks again for all your help.

Warmest regards . . . Jim Kelley [log in to unmask]
