Joy... please DO share the Drugs to be aware of list, and make sure you add TEGRETOL (generic is Carbamazepine) to the list. This drug is a living nightmare to the Parkie!! Barb Mallut, [log in to unmask] ---------- From: PARKINSN: Parkinson's Disease - Information Exchange Network on behalf of Robert Graham Sent: Friday, July 19, 1996 1:02 PM To: Multiple recipients of list PARKINSN Subject: Drug-Drug reactions It makes me so frustrated that doctors don't know about the problems of combining DEPRENYL/Selegiline with things like Fluoxetine/PROZAC,Paroxetine/AROPAX, Sertraline/ZOLOFT, and now with a newer type of serotonin re-uptake inhibitor called Venlafaxine/EFEXOR. AND OF COURSE, DEPRENYL should never be combined with Demerol/or Pethidine as it is called in Australia - but I hope by now most people know about that. (AUSTRALIAN Trade names in CAPITALS) There is lots of info in the LIST archival material about drug/drug reactions, but we can hardly keep up to it - with new drugs always on the market, it needs a full time researcher. I wonder if anyone in the USA is employed doing just that? Next Saturday, in Perth, we are launching a brochure called Drugs To Be Used With Caution In Parkinson's Disease. Perhaps I will put it on the LIST if there is the interest: It may be slightly different from the US List. DO YOU WANT IT? Joy Graham ([log in to unmask])
