Hi everybody, We just returned from an Independence Day celebration at our Community Center. Afterwards I had an opportunity to speak to Representative Connie Morella (Maryland) to thank her for being an early co-sponsor of the Udall Bill. I asked her about the chance of it passing this year. Her response was that it WILL pass if it gets to the floor. The problem is one of running out of time. She doesn't know if it will get out of Committee and to the floor in time for this year - but she also said that she has seen things move really quickly at times. She said she would try to move it along if she can. So please contact your Congress-people and urge them to get it to the floor so we have a chance to pass it this year. There is going to be another mini-forum in Washington on July 23-25 , to continue lobbying Congress for more co-sponsors. I am looking for people in the DC area who might be willing to house some of the people coming into town. They usually are spending their own money and we can really help if we can save them the cost of a hotel. If you are willing, contact me and I will let the Forum organizers know. Obviously it is best if you live near public transportation, but I'm sure a lift to and from the subway would be greatly appreciated. Susan Hamburger, CG for Stan 61, 15+ yrs.
