Vicki,

I think the confusion results from the possible drug interactions with
Vit B-6. The PDR says that , " Vitamin B-6 in oral doses of 10mg-25mg
may reverse the effects of levidopa by increasing the rate of aromatic
amino acid decarboxylation. Carbidopa inhibits this action of Vit B-6."
This means that if one is taking Sinemet one should not take more than
a dose of about 25mg. of Vit B-6.

Another source i have, "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" by James
Balch, MD, suggests that for Parkinson's Disease one should take "up to
1000 mg/dy of Vit B-6 since---brain dopamine production depends upon
Vit-6"(this assumes no Sinemet). And the 1140 page tome by Elson Haas,
MD, "Staying Healthy with Nutrition", says that one can safely take 500
mg/day and one can take 1000 mg/day for a short period of time.

So---you can make up your own rules. I would say that this means you can
try 10-25 mg/day of Vit B-6 if you are on Sinemet and lets say 500 mg/day
if you are not.
