I am considering unilateral and bilateral pallidotomy. I am globally-oriented, and wonder if Sweden or the U.S. or elsewhere is best.. I also want to know more from NADH users. I speak French and English. I need advice from those of you who can take the time to write. I rapidly use up PD meds...and have to take them every 2-3 hours, plus heavier nighttime dosing. I have SEVERE end-of-dose tightening and cramping of muscles, painfully slowing down, sometimes 5 or 6 times/da. Tremor is NOT a dominant feature. In fact, it is very limited. I am becoming very tired, and am dreadfully concerned about Maine's long, cold, damp, snowy upcoming winter.. Last winter by the woodstove was exhausting!! I am an otherwise healthy, 46, pd diagnosis March, 1989, actual symptoms as early as June, 1987, male, Euro-American. I am 5'11", 165 lbs., athletic, former college prof(anthropology and anatomy), non-smoker, passionate about life! I am a well-known human rights activist, and am working very hard on passing the Udall Bill. I cannot work outside my home and live inadequately on $746/mo, i.e. Social Security....and feel enmeshed in a tiger's grip by PD. My condition has rapidly worsened (though my spirit is doing pretty well). I have no domestic partner. I have many friends, but my biological family is distant and is responding poorly...this may be because I have a strong gay component in my sexual orientation. Soooo, there you go, friends--I can't be "in the closet" to you. I trust you will be understanding of gay, bisexual and lesbian PWP's (People with Parkinson's). I live with a friend who is like an adopted son, 22. We are strictly friends. He is gay. We share my house. We met in the Maine Gay Men's Chorus. I need 1100-1200 mg. Sinemet/da. I use 4 x 2.5 mg. Eldepryl/da. There are no parkinson's specialists in Maine. I believe my dopamine deficiency is of genetic origins. I am not sure how to evaluate my medical condition. Permax in tiny doses made me disoriented. Parlodel blocks my digestion horribly... Anti-gay doctors and attitudes make my search for care a DOUBLE-WHAMMY!! Please advise. Ivan Mfowethu Suzman Portland, Maine ([log in to unmask]) My Concord grapes are doing GREAT and will be ready in ten weeks......... P.S. Camilla and Sherri, THANKS for your letters...keep them coming! And Janet, what is Bermuda weather like for Parkinsonians?
