Also at one time, gpu was the official campus primary dns (until we bought dense.utcc to handle that). But the "machinery" that goes along with being a primary/secondary dns box was never disabled on either system. Among other things, having unofficial secondaries nearby has proved quite handy when trying pinpoint dns-related (or UNrelated) problems. And ugw uses the transfered zones to generate its version of the UofT /etc/hosts file made available for anon-ftp. > 128.100.102.28 stamp.utcc stamp.utcc is a testbed for dns/mail/etc. Hope this helps. pk.
