What a shock and what a loss. Like most members of the list I never met Alan, although I feel like I have. My wife, Moira MacPherson, and I talked to him by telephone on many occasions. We watched his video on his surgery in Sweden. Moira often called in the wee small hours of the night for his calm advice and wisdom. Alan was instrumental in helping Moira make the decision to go to California for her pallidotomy. While in California last May, we talked about trying to get up to see Alan, but it was too far. I hesitate to (and and frankly don't know how I am going to do it) tell Moira who has been hospitalized for the past two weeks with a severe bowel problem. It will be a blow to her....as it is a blow to hundreds... thousands perhaps.... Parkinsonians, caregivers and Parkinson friends around the world. Alan was special.
