Hearing of Alan's death was a real shock to me. He was a friend, a caring
friend who will be missed by me and many others.

Alan was a 'doer' rather than a person who just let things come and go as
they please. He had PD and other physical problems. He accepted his
physical problems, but tried to do something about them for himself and for
others.

I knew Alan from a couple of APDA conventions and a PAN meeting face to
face, he and I chatted by Prodigy, AOL, this listserver, and by very long
distance telephone. We seemed to sort of gravitate together with PD, trying
to do something about PD in somewhat similar ways, and simple friendship.
