Nancy, how far is Dad's work from Mom?? In our two storey house, I bought a pair of walki talki's from Radio Shack (49Mhz.. not CB) so if I'm anywhere in or near the house she can speak to me. We even tested them when I drove about 4 block away and I was still able to speak with her. Further than that I can suspect you could use a similiar system of hand held units.
