Dietmar:

I can only speak from my own experience, since pd progresses at a
different rate for everyone.

I retired last month after working for 11 years with pd, but that is
longer than most. After 10 years, 80 percent have retired. I was a high
school English teacher and found I could no longer cope with the stress
of the job and my diminishing capabilities. I could manage as long as my
medicine was working, but it has become increasingly unreliable. Now if
I eat anything at all, not just protein, I can usually plan on being
"off" about an hour and a half later for about two and a half hours.
When I was working I just didn't eat until the workday was over.

Now that I'm retired, I'm looking to do things that will allow me a
flexible schedule, like free-lance writing, paper grading, and homebound
teaching. You might look into some work you can do on your computer at
home. I'm as productive as I ever was - sometimes.

Good luck to you.
