I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease some ten years ago. I was 58 years
old. About 2 years later, my wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was then 58 years old. When we first found out about my illness, she
told me not to worry and that she was prepared to take care of me. Little
did I know at the time that I was going to be her caregiver for the entire
duration of her terrible ordeal which lasted all of eight years. As her
illness progressed she required full custodial care. I did everything
possible to not have to put her in a nursing home. I was fortunate enough to
meet a person who assisted me during this most difficult period. Six months
ago, my wife who was also my best friend and whom I adored for over 45 years
passed away in her sleep.

My total involvement and concern for her precluded me from thinking too much
about my own illness. This and my strong faith in God helped me to endure
the difficulties that we know to be associated with Parkinson's. Though I
still miss her dearly, I have a strong will to survive and I believe that
there is a purpose for everything. I take one day at a time and try my best
to live it to its fullest.

I am currently taking (6) Sinemet 25/100, (2) Amantadine 100mg, Vitamin C
 4000mg,
Vitamin E 800 units, (3) Coenzyme Q10 30mg, (1) Multivitamin, per day.
I also have an Ativan .25mg when stress is a problem. I play 18 holes of
golf twice a week. I enjoy working at my computer. I like watching all
kinds of sports and a good movie. Plus a few other things. I am seeing a
neurologist who is a Movement Disorder Specialist and one that specializes in
Parkinson's Disease.
