This is a contribution to the questions Beverly Rocholtz asked today( from one neophyte to another). This is our first week on the list and we've found it very interesting. My wife Aliza is registered on the list. She was diagnosed as PD about 18 months ago. 1.ADHD(attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) There is a two page article in the Aug.1996 Scientific American, pp8-9 on ADHD which discusses "an association between ADHD and three genes encoding receptors for the neurotransmitter dopamine.Collaborating with molecular biologists and geneticists at Irvine and the University of Toronto,Swanson examined the so-called novelty-seeking gene, which codes for the dopamine receptor DRD4...We found that the seven-repeat variety of the gene is overrepresented among ADHD children,Swanson says." Note: Scientific American is available on:http://www.sciam.com/ See also" Magnet on the Brain",p.19 of the Aug. 1996 issue which describes a PD surgical technology which minimizes surgical damage using magnetically-steered implants. 2.Some PD info sources on the Internet we found useful Parkinson Digest:http://ourworld.compuserv.com/homepages/PD_Digest Contains summaries of the dialog going on this list. 3.Parkinson's Web:http://neuro-chiefe.mgh.harvard.edu/parkinsonsweb/PDmain.html 4.Drug infonet:http://www.druginfonet.com/parkinsn.htm
