I must say that the PD specialists that Don consulted, while they perhaps
knew more about PD than his general neurologists, were no more able to help
him.  Of course, he's very much taken charge of his illness (more than I would)
and knows as much about what's available and works for him as any of them do
(perhaps more).  In fact, the specialists were not encouraging about the stim
surgery; our primary care doctor and the general neurologist read the medical
articles Don brought to them (the specialists couldn't be bothered), read his
lists of pros and cons, talked with him at length about his condition, his
meds, prognosis, PD progression--and encouraged us to go to France for the
surgery.
