Dr. William Langston, president of the Parkinson's Institute and author of "The Case of the Frozen Addicts", will be the keynote speaker at the Parkinson's Unity Walk. If you live within an hour of New York City come in to say hello and say 'Thank You' to Bill for the invaluable work he has done in tracking down MPTP as the chemical agent responsible for inducing Parkinsonism in otherwise healthy individuals. As a doctor he has been a godsend for several of the 'frozen addicts' as well as many other patients he treats at PI's clinic. Not only did he diagnose the addict's condition but with fetal tissue surgery some of these patients have had considerable reversal of otherwise totally debilitating symptoms. As a scientist he is responsible for pushing Parkinson's research dramatically forward by providing an animal model for PD. The book is excellant reading, very informative about many aspects of PD including recent research and it's a powerfully inspiring human story. Buy a copy before the Walk and have Dr. Langston autograph it on Sunday. Anne Meara of the comedy team of Stiller and Meara and Honorary Co-Chair will attend the kick-off of the event. We'll have coffee, cake, T-shirts, raffle prizes, music and fun. Come join us and thousands of members of the international PD community who will be walking in Canada and Europe in September. The Parkinson's Unity Walk begins with Registration at 89th and Riverside Park at 11:00AM. Plenty of parking is available at Grant's Memorial at 120th Street where walkers can take a shuttle down to the start at 89th.
