Actually, this is a reply to two messages: microphagia (does anyone else have these symptoms?) and the above meds. My experience is with pramipexole, a dopamine agonist similar to permax and parlodel, helper drugs for sinemet.. I've been taking it for 3 and a half years as part of a drug trial at Washington University in St. Louis. I'll tell you about my reaction to it, but realize that this is a subjective evaluation and may be different for others. In the first part of the trial, a double blind study, I may have been getting a placebo rather than the drug. My reaction was very positive, and symptoms improved, notably balance and handwriting. After a year, I was placed on the drug, and reached my level of dosage sooner than the previous year, indicating I must have been on the placebo (!) The drug seemed not quite so effective after a while, and I had come to the conclusion it wasn't doing much of anything until one day I was very busy and forgot to take it all day, believe it or not. That night I woke up with a terrible anxiety attack - pains, trembling, heart palpitations - the whole ball of wax. That made me realize it was having an effect after all. As I said before, the main improvement has been in balance and handwriting. I can write pretty well, though not as well as I used to, almost all the time, depending where I am in my sinemet cycle. Those of you with microphagia might want to consult your doctor about taking pramipexole. It's been approved by the FDA and should come on the market next year. Good luck. Pat Schark pine`
