Hello Friends!
For seven years I've been managing on Eldepryl only. There have been
moments when I thought I couldn't stand to shake one more minute, but then I
would remember how the "tremor drugs" numb the mind and I would choose to
continue to shake. I feel like I can go on like this for now, but I know a
day of unbearable stress will come (My parents are in their mid-eighties, my
husband has leukemia.), and I may not be able to handle it, and I won't be
prepared to do something fast. Anyway, I'm a bit scared. The tremor is the
only symptom that is a concern right now. It is on the left side only and
quite severe. I can handle it at the moment, but I feel a need to be ready
to do something fast if extra stress comes. I have found it too
uncomfortable to visit the neurologists I have found. They all(four) push
drugs. Do any of you know a Parkinson specialist who doesn't push drugs and
in fact tries to keep people off the drugs 'til they need them? It's not
easy for me to travel right now, but I would consider going anywhere to meet
with a caring Parkinson specialist who tries to keep patients off the drugs
'til they absolutely need them. Right now I am at a loss. Any ideas?
Love to all of you,
Joan (Diagnosed '89, 55 yrs old)
