Dear Janice,

I was 23 when I felt my first symptom, that was 50 years ago. I am
still functioning reasonably well, though I no longer drive a car.
Fortunately, I have a wonderful, supportive husband and 3 children as
well as 8 grandchildren. My youngest son helps me with my computer,
since I'm not as computer literate as I'd like to be. I love to
write and have just self-published a book of poetry on my computer. I
also like to paint in oil, especially seascapes. My husband and I
travel a lot. We took a two-week trip driving through Nova Scotia in
August with our daughter and her husband. Just returned from a quick
trip to Oregon yesterday. I write a travel column for people with
Parkinson's for NPF, so of course, I have to keep producing new
material...

My medication regimen for Parkinson's requires that I take 1/4
Sinemet (25/100) every hour of the day and all but about six hours at
night. I really feel most fortunate to still be performing as well
as I do after so many years with PD. Of course, some days are like
riding a roller coaster with the On/Offs, but I/ve learned to "roll
with the punches" as well as I can.

This is enough for introduction. I would be happy to correspond
with you when I'm in town. We are 50 year residents of Santa Barbara,
CA and though consider we live in paradise, are always comparing it
with other spots around the world.

Bev Steward ([log in to unmask])
