John Cottingham hits the nail squarely on the head with his comments about this being an excellent time to contact your Congressmen or persons running for Congress. Many of you have expressed your appreciation for the efforts that those of us who were able to travel to Washington D.C. and attempt to persuade our legislators to pass legislation for increased funding of Parkinson's research. WELL HERE IS YOUR CHANCE to put meaning to those thank yous. Visit these people who are running for Senate and House. Thank them for their support if they cosponsored the Udall Bill. Offer to put up a yard sign or pass out literature in your neighborhood. We do not have a large war chest of money to make contributions, but at this time of the election cycle, politicians often need volunteers as much as cash. I KNOW MANY DON'T CARE FOR POLITICS. well for those of you with Parkinson's, DO YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LIFE? that is how simple it is. If one of the people on this list would obtain a pledge from each candidate running for office, that they would make funding Parkinson's Disease research a priority when they get to Washington, we will have this bill passed before the spring flowers come up. What a beautiful spring that would be! I would also ask all of you who had been active advocates to take a few minutes and encourage your fellow Americans to consider this issue when they vote. Sometimes people need a little encouragement. Also, anyone who feels strongly about this issue, would You post a short note on this list encouraging people to use support of the Udall Bill an issue in deciding who to vote for. It's would be an interesting show of hands to see how many are listening out there and if the numbers were large I'm sure it would motivate others to get out an vote. SO WHO IS WITH US ?
