Hi,
I personally have had an experience taking DHEA - I must tell you it was not
the positive experience touted by those prescribing it. I was on it for
three days, and had to stop it. I called my doctor and told him that I was
having severe hallucinations.(They were not the funny kind either. I must
also tell you I am not prone to this phenomenon.) This was an unheard of
side effect, but I am one who has very different reactions to chemicals. My
father was in a "trial" with very high doses of DHEA and found it did
absolutely nothing for him. (May I also add that these capsules were
obtained from different pharmacies as well.) Two totally different
experiences by two very different people. Just to let you know it's
reactions are very different in each person - as with any drug. This is a
chemical that I advise people to seriously consider taking a wait and see
attitude with. There is no documentation as to longterm effects (or that I
am aware of anyway). With much in recent postings here, and on other
listservs about some of the "miracle" pills out there, I personally use
extreme caution. Just as I had an adverse reaction to what some call a
harmless and extremely beneficial supplement - blue green algae. (The many
persons who contacted me to take them or sign up with their mlm were not
even aware of the potential side effects - and believe me there are some
documented.) I don't want to burst anyone's bubble or sound doom and
gloomy, but please use caution. If you have had adverse reactions to any
other chemicals (prescription or otherwise), you may wish to pursue some
other options out there with proven research on their benefits and long term
effects.

I personally have not read the Newsweek article, but it may be noteworthy to
research who is the writer of the article and the contributing references.
Were they a bit biased in their own interests? This happens - even in
Newsweek!!!!

Sorry to sound pessimistic - just don't want to ever see/hear of anyone
going through what I did taking this drug - in even small amounts. Not a
fun experience!!! I have found other options to cover the benefits you
mentioned above.

I have clipped many articles on DHEA and would be happy to send them to you
if you would like.

I hope whatever you decide works well for you!

PS - I will look up the article in the very near future!

Take care,

Kathy
