Those people on the list who do not speak English might want to look at this
site.

I have tried this service.  It is not real-time, but returns your
translation via email, usually within a couple of hours.  It is
not perfect, but it enabled me to translate some messages
from English to French and I was then able to get the point
across.  And, it is free - can't complain about that!

One funny note (and a point that underlines the comment about the
differences in dialect) is to send it a message to translate, and then
send the *translated* message back and have it re-translate it into
the original language!
