Prozac started out being used for clinical depression and I believe that intended use was how it got its FDA approval. Doctors saw so much success they started prescribing it for various types of dysthimia. Noticing, for the most part, success at every turn, they prescribed it for many other conditions. It is now commonly used for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) which is radically different from clinical depression.
