Maybe. But with simple search tools we should be able to sniff out papers anywhere on the web by keyword search. Rooting out real intellectual dishonesty--passing of others' work as one's own rather than ignorance of citation strategies--should be a lot easier rather than harder if students start downloading whole papers or large chunks. This of course doesn't address the vast changes to the whole idea of intetextuality and plagiarism in electronic writing spaces, but tbat's for another day... Doug
