For East Anglian piety, Ann Eljenholm Nichols' _Seeable Signs_, on Seven Sacrament Fonts, seems to me to be important since it is a major examination of sacramental theology, on the level of popular practice as expressed in the iconography. My own impression is that East Anglia shares with other parts of England with contacts to the continent, even York as I have argued in print, an affective piety of the type that Michelangelo scorned.
