Wow!!!!! I reckon I'd be REALLY depressed if I'd been on the receiving end
of Barbara's broadside to Dianne.!!!

Every word Barbara has said on the subject was relevent and to the point.
Also, her response could not have been more measured and correct. There was
no suggestion in Barbara's FIRST letter that Dianne was involved in selling
the product, just a warning to people on the list of the product being part
of a pyramid selling campaign on the net.

It was only when Dianne addmitted to SELLING the product and produced the
anecdotal evidence of so many people with such a wide variety of illnesses
benefiting, that Barbara let loose. She was right to do so!

People suffering from ANY incurable illness can get desperate and are are
vulnerable to anyone offering the hope of a cure or alleviation of their
problem. We should ensure that list members are not allowed to fall victim
of money-making cure-alls which give them false hope and in the extreme
prove dangerous. We are lucky to have the benefit of people like Barbara
taking a very active part on this list.

If someone goes on to ask how to separate the genuine from the false, I
would say watch for:

1. It is on sale privately only through sales people.

2. It makes claims to cure/help a wide variety of illnesses.

3. The person proclaiming the product knows SO MANY friends and relations
with SO MANY different problems.

Hmmmm!!!!....mind you....if BARBARA told me eating spoonfuls of sawdust
helped PD, I'd be reaching for my saw and a chunk of wood right away. Just
to finish on a lighter note. <Grin>

>Sorry Dianne, I'm not a skeptic at all. I don't BELIEVE in "universal
>cure-alls" any more than I do in "snake oil!" I worked in the online industry
>for over 7 years. I had people like you logging onto the Medical BBSes I ran
>all the
>time, giving almost word-for-word duplicate sales pitches as you're
>making....."Just because, out of the goodness of their hearts, <PUL-eeeeeeze!>
>they happen to have 'personally' found a product that helps them, or an
>alleged relative or friend." Being in the position I am in on The Micorsoft
>Network, I see still MORE of these hucksters every day! AND I've seen every
>imaginable type of pyramid scheme that's come down the pike during this time.
>
>I've heard ALL tfhe excuses that a "universal cure-all" salesperson could ever
>dream up to use to sell their products and their pyramid schemes to those who
>suffer from the many terrible diseases out there such as WE here on the
>Parkinson's List are forced to endure.
>
>You're in BUSINESS TO MAKE MONEY OFF THE CHRONICALLY ILL, and that's the ONLY
>reason you're pitching your products here. You're hawking "universial
>cure-alls" here, because you're playing off the desparation of those who are
>so afraid and so sick.
>
>I've emailed the list owner to inform her that a "universal cure-all" and
>pyramid scheme salesperson is using her list to pitch for sales. And, if this
>were my own system, you'd be out of here so fast your head would spin!
