Bill,

I was in Toronto yesterday for a follow-up pallidotomy visit and asked Dr.
Lazano if they were still refusing to do bilateral pallidotomies. He said
they were because the reports from other institutions who do the surgery
showed that 80 percent of rhose operated on the second time experienced
serious speech difficulties. He also said that Dr. Lang's research showed a
negative effect on cognitive ability. He uses the pacemaker implant for the
second side.
